A few days later Mary hurried to the hill country of Judea, to the town where Zechariah lived. She entered the house and greeted Elizabeth. At the sound of Mary’s greeting, Elizabeth’s child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. (Luke 1:39-41 NLT)
Every ADVENTure needs a parade of celebrations along the way.
We have arrived at the halfway point of our journey to Florida. We have covered about 200 river miles. Time to replenish our fuel, have the toilet pumped out, top off our water tank, throw in a load of laundry, run to town for a few more groceries. Then we plan to kick back and watch the annual Christmas boat parade.
Celebrating ADVENT this year has felt a little like a parade for me. The parade of people involved in the unveiling of God’s promise fulfilled.
Let’s just take a moment to watch the scene unfold as Mary hurries to visit Elizabeth. Greetings exchanged, John leaps for joy in the womb and Elizabeth is filled with the Holy Spirit. And I imagine Mary ponders it all, as Elizabeth holds her in a strong embrace.
I look forward to peeking into their lives some more next week. Drifting from scene to scene, but circling back around to the main event. The birth of Jesus and all that it means.
In the meantime, I’m waiting for Les to bring us back some food from town, and enjoy the boat parade.
Here is a parade of boats we saw on our way through the Mobile shipping bay this afternoon:
Tomorrow I will post some pics from the Christmas boat parade!
What are you celebrating today?
